Broncos Voicc Happy New Year 96 , NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Fayetteville State University Two Positions Available: Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance Fayetteville State University invites applications for the positions of Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance. FSU is a Comprehensive I level university within the University of North Carolina System with an enrollment of nearly 4,200 students and an annual budget of over $35 million. In addition to bachelor’s degree programs, master’s programs are ofifered in Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, and Education, as well as a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership. Fayetteville is a trade and business center located in southeastern North Carolina, with an area population of. approximately 287,000. Fayetteville is also the home of the major military installations of Ft Bragg and Pope Air Force Base. Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs— responsibilities include: >■ Working effectively with the Chancellor and all major councils and committees to accomplish the mission of the University, serving as the chief academic officer and acting Chancellor in the absence of the Chancellor; >- Supervising, coordinating, and implementing all educational programs for the main campus and die Ft. Bragg-Pope Air Force Base University Center campus, including undergraduate and graduate programs in regular sessions, summer school, weekend and evening programs, and continuing education offerings; >■ Supervising the development and implementation of faculty evaluation, tenure, and promotion procedures and encouraging and supporting faculty development, research, and other significant scholarly activities; >- Supervising the administration and general operation of all academic siqjport services, including the Office of Admissions, the Office of the Registrar, Library Services, academic computing, the Tide III Office, the Offices of Institutional Research, Research Administradon, and Special Services programs. Requirements: An earned doctorate or other terminal degree; a successful and demonstrable record of achievement in teaching, research, and scholarship; the ability to provide creative, enagetic, and effective senior level leadership; and credentials appropriate for appointment in an academic department as a fiiU-tenured professor. Vice Chancellor for Business and Fmance—responsibilities include: >■ Serving as chief fiscal officer of the University, directly responsible to the Chancellor, advising the Chancellor on all University fiscal and resource management matters; >■ Assisting the Chancellor in the prqiaration and control of the University’s annual budget; >• Maintaining a sound and reliable system of financial recordkeeping and accounting for all University funds and accounts; >■ Maintaining a system of purchasing that is consistent with the Office ■ of State Purchase and Contract procedures; >■ Managing and directing unit administrators responsible for fiscal operations. Physical Plant, Financial Aid, Personnel Administration, University Police Operations, and Auxiliary Services. Requirements: A master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration and at least five years of progressively responsible financial management and administrative experience, preferably in a higher education setting that included significant control ovo' budgeting, fund accounting and public finance, and facilities management, and proven leadership ability and strategic planning skills that will enhance the realization of the University’s unique mission.
