Henderson) Lady Bears Win CIAA Volleyball Title at FSU The Lady Bears of Shaw of University won the coveted CIAA title in women's volleyball at the Annual CIAA Tournament held on the campus of Fayetteville State University on November 6 and 7. The Lady Spar tans of Norfolk State University came in second place while the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University placed third overall in the CIAA. The Lady Broncos finished up with a 25-10 record on the year. Expecting On the last and final day of the tournament, Coach Hill had a lot of things on her mind, two things specifically either of which could happen at any time during that day: (1) awaiting the arrival of a brand new baby boy or (2) the CIAA Tournament Title. “This team is very talented in their offensive and defensive abilities. The only piece missing from the puzzle is a killer insticnt, the drive to just go out and put away every opponent. It’s like they don’t realize how powerful a team they actually are, they jiiist seem to take it for granted," according to coach Elorine Hill. i We would like to honor the the two departing seniors in Team Cap tain Monique Sharpless, Alvita Williams and the two All-CIAA tourna ment Team members in Reeshemah Parkinson and Teresa McMillian. Reeshemah also made the All-CIAA Rookie Team as well. Congratula tions and thank you ladies as well as the rest of your teammates for a job well done. Just think, out of the 9 that played this year, we will have seven of them back plus a new set of recruits, “ain’t that great!” Dr. Brooks said, “no matter what, they will always be number one in my teckf’ SUPER BOWL PAAARRRTTY JANUARY 28 Free Hot Wings, Subs and Drinks Come one, come all to the Rudolph Jones Student Center and party with the Pro's at 6 PM. Ticket to Nowhere hv Patrica Rosemoor Ordinarily, I’d say that paperback romance novels are trash or something that you read when you feel like hav ing mush in your brains, but in this case, I make an exception. “Ticket to Nowhere “, a Harlequin Intrigue, took me by surprise. “Ticket” was filled with suspense, adventure, and a little romance. The story takes place in Chicago during the carnival season and involves the murder of an aspiring model. As you read, you’ll find that there is more suspense than there is ro mance, but like most Harlequin’s, there is romance. In fact, that’s what I like most about the book. It was.filled with more adventure and took place in an American city. Of course, like most paperback romances, the two main characters fall in love, but these two characters didn’t wait that long. They forgot about the formalities and tradition and went straight to bed, no I mean, to the cab of the truck! All the time they were working the case together they were falling in love. Eden, how’s that for a name, witnessed a mur der and becomes a target. Chickie Lovesit, personally I wouldn’t date a man with a name like that, is the one person she believes in her and brings the crooked politicians responsible for the crime to justice. Throughout 251 pages, you will be pulled into the world of carnies, am bitious politicians and the women they marry. Because “Ticket” was published in 1989, it will be more likely found at a local yard sale or flea market, B J's Exchange Used Books or Edwards McKay's Used Books. Roll Call from pase 2 of “sensitivity training” and “customer service tlasses as the cure. It didn’t work because, as Dr. McLeod is demonstrating, it takes a much more sustained and concerted hands-on effort to break the spiritual gridlock strangling our soulfire. Dr. McLeod is dead serious about his mandate and we all need to take heed, take hold, and together move forward, up,up, and away. Roll is being called—stand up, step forward, and be counted (or counted out).
