It’s Still Not Ready The New Dormitory is not Scheduled to Open Until Fall 1997 by Shawn Torry The new dormitory is still not ready. Previously expected to be ready this semester, it in now sched uled to begin housing students in August of 1997, in time for the fall semester. According to the Univer sity Public Relations Office, the dormitory will be coed, but with seperate wings for males and fe males, and will house honor students. Each room will have either 2 or 3 beds, depending on its location. When complete, the dormitory will house 148 students. McLeod, Willie Gary, and Mayor J.L. Dawkins share a laugh during the reception, (r) Willie Gary enjoys receptions with his sonAli and long-time friend William Gray. On Friday, December 13, 1996, nationally renowned attorney Willie Gary was the guest of honor at a re ception held by the Fayetteville Bar and Bench Association. The reception, which was held at the Radisson Hotel, was attended by many of Fayetteville’s most prominent citizens. Mayor Dawkins and his wife were among those present to honor Willie Gary. Also in attendance were Fayetteville State Chancellor Dr. Willis McLeod, North Carolina State Representative Dr. C.R. Edwards, and District Court Judge ' Particia Timmons. A number of local attorneys were present as well. Attorney Gary, who was in Fayetteville to deliver the Fayetteville State University Fall Commencement Ad dress, is arguably the nation’s best and most successful personal in jury lawyers. He is a graduate of both Shaw University and North Carolina Cen- tral University’s Law School. Willie Gary’s com mencement address was revealing to any one who has faced and overcome extreme ad versity and inspiring to anyone preparing to begin their journey in life. He sincerely yet emphatetically stated that through determi nation, dedication, and faith, anything was possible. Gary, who at one point in his life liter ally went to school barefoot, told the 314 graduates and nearly 3,000 attendees in the Felton J. Capel Arena to “...stay strong, no matter how tough the times are.” Gary re minded the graduates to “never forget where they came from” and to “always give back.” “The sky is the limit,” Gary said. “If you are determined, if you are dedicated, and if you have faith in God, you can make it happen.” Broncos’ Voice Editor-In- Chief Roger A.
