News n’ Notes
Pepsi’s out
So much for the taste of
a new generation. No longer
will Pepsi be served in the
Capel arena. Reportedly the
company has reniged on
one to many deals with the
FSU Athletic department.
The new sponsor will be
Coca-Cola. In addition to
bringing new taste to cam
pus. the company (coke)
will assist in the funding of
FSU’s new track.
I only have two ques
tions surrounding the issue,
one of which is on the avail
able spacing for the track.
If any of you have taken a
spin around the track you’ll
notice it seem’s rather small
for the proposed 8 lane fa
cility that will satisfy all
NCAA specifications.
FSU’s current track is
roughly 17.4 feet. Yes, I
measured it myself. Will
they expand and if so
where? The bleachers on
the away side are set in a
concrete base, while the
other side has murchison
road at it’s back. The sec
ond question is, will Coke
do the track in company
colors (red and white) or
will we get it in school col
ors (blue and white)?

✓ that the 34th president of the
United States, Dwight D.
Eisenhower, had a mulatto
mother? His mother, Ida Sloner
Eisenhower, half-black and half
white, married a German immi
grant David Jacob Eisenhower.
Technically, this would make
President Eisenhower a qua
droon. What is it they say about
one drop of “Black blood?”
