8 FSU THE WRTTERS’ BLOCK (There are so many talented students here at FSU. You may be able to write poems very^Md, you may have a lot offatxmte quotes, or you may just be a student who always has strong words ofunsdom and encouragement. No matter what your writing talent is, here is your chance to share it with Fayetteville State University.) Arts & Entertainment Editor: Phillip Gatling Jr. Untitled BY: NICOLE SPIERS When you look in the mirror, What do you see? I see a little girl, Staring back at me, Hair of deep brown, big brown eyes, and pouty lips, Crying, crying, crying with a broken heart that drips. Pure agony, shattered remnants on the floor, I threw away the key after I locked the door, It’s all lies, this life of mine I live, My life was full of darkness, my life full of pain, My life was full of people, who left me in the rain. So, let the world surround me, so I can begin to die. Please don’t save me, not now—I’m worthless, Please just say goodbye. Wait Awhile BY: PHILLIP GATLING JR. I know you may still be hurting ft’om the pain. But things will get better after the rain. Remember God is still in control. And your broken heart, he will console, So don’t worry, just wait a little while. Soon, He’ll wipe your tears away, and give you a smile. You just have to survive his test, Don’t worry, he knows when it’s too much or too less. So just wait awhile on your blessing. He knows you’ve been hurting, and now you’re just messing, So slow down your pace. And all that pain he will soon erase. In the morning, it’ll all be alright. So don’t stress, it’s gonna be better after tonight. Knowing His ^sdom BY: ANDREW LEGGETT God’s great manifest. His love through and through. Take a seat and listen, To what the lord has for you, What do we get from prayer? When we bow before our king? Not only physical wealth and love, But a more spiritual well being. Our father has promised us, Great things in return. He can grant your wildest wishes, And promise not to let bum. For a people that are divided. Can forever become one. If we pay attention to our father. The Holy Spirit and the Son, Your world can be changed. This I know for sure. Because he’ll never put more on you, Than your heart can endure. So when you find yourself hurting, And have no place to run. Just remember that God will always work. And in him you can forever turn. Quotes: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.” “All I know is what I’ve learned, but all I’ve learned is not all there is to know.” Anonymous “Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “When things get tough and you feel that you have no one and you’ve been let down. Know that God has placed the hard times there for you because you have the power to overcome. Your life can’t be too perfect. If it were, you wouldn’t have anything to leam and grow firom.” Keisha C. Robinson EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR RESUME. MONEY FOR COLLEGE. So you Think You’re a Bronco ... But do you really have what it takes to call yourself a Bronco? Simply attending classes doesn’t make you a Bronco- that just means you are a student. Real Broncos are proud of whom they are and the legacy they represent. They also aren’t afraid to brag about and defend their university against haters. In addition, there are certain things that you absolutely HAVE to have done before you can really call yourself a Bronco. So, if you are a freshmen or you are unsure of your “Bronco Status,” don’t worry- I have devised a little test for you. Good luck! YOU KNOW YOU ARE A BRONCO -If you refuse to wear a DUKE or Chapel Hill jersey or T-shirt -If your mother and/or father have “FSU MOM” and “FSU DAD” t-shirts -If you’ve ever argued with someone just because they’re a Ram -If you respond every time someone says “Attitude Check” -If you cheer alongside the cheerleaders at the games -If you know ail of the dances that the Marching Band does in the stands -If your favorite gospel tune is “I’m so glad I go to FSU” -If you love to drink the Bronco bottled water -If you’ve stayed in the stadium after football games to watch the band march out -if you’ve ever painted your nails Bronco blue -If you stay until the last minute of a sports game, even if we’re losing -If you cheer on the team, even if they’re losing -If you own a pair of Bronco blue tennis shoes -If you own a black, white, gray, and blue, FSU T-Shirt - If you actually paid full price for your t-shirts at the bookstore -If one of your friends decided to come to Fayetteville State because you couldn’t stop talking about it -If you’ve ever rushed the basketball court after a last minute victory -If you know what to do when the basketball team has a definite lead with 30 seconds left in the game and the cheerleading captain stomps her feet 2 times slow and 4 times fast.... -If you have ever cared enough about anything to write a letter to the chancellor -If you are a junior, but you’ve been at FSU for 6 years (we don’t recommend showing your bronco pride in this manner, but my guess is that those people just can’t get enough of FSU...) -If you’ve ever packed 6 people in a Honda accord just so you all could attend an away game -If you get mad when people say that Fayetteville State is whack -If you’re a member of either the Student Activities Council, the Pan- Hellenic Council, Student Government Association, or all three. -If you secretly want to be the mascot. -If you just graduated and the first job you applied for was a job at FSU -If you’ve ever sang “What ‘til you see my blue and white!” in the tune of the Ying Yang Twinz “Whisper Song” Now remember, if you’re a freshmen, it’s quite possible that you haven’t had a chance to do many of these things. But don’t worry, you still have plenty of time to show your Bronco Pride, so get ready for an exciting year. As for the upperclassmen, if you can’t say that you’ve done at least half of these things well, all I can say is- “Attitude Check!” By: Kaity L.
