The debates will engage students in criti cal thinking and increase community under standing of the issues. It will be held in the Seabrook Auditorium on Feb. 14th, at 6 p.m., judges for the first an nual debates include. Rep. Rick Glazier, Dr. Karla HoUoway and Sen. Eric Mansfield. “The Frederick Douglass Debate Series has been established to provide the community an opportimity to come together and reflect on issues of relevance to both the community at large and to the celebration of Black History Month. For this inaugural set of debates, we plan to discuss equal representation, higher education, and social upheaval. All of these topics are issues of vital importance to our so ciety at this point in time,” said Fayetteville State University lecturer and Director of De bate William Thomas. By holding this event, Mr. Thomas has hopes of helping to create an enviroiunent of community inclusiveness that is both educa tional and entertaining.
