. "They play it safe. Are quick to assassinate what they do not under
stand. They move in packs, ingesting more and more fear with every
act of hate on one another. They feel most comfortable in groups,
less guilt to swallow. They are us. This is what we have become.
Afraid to respect the individual. A single person within a circumstance
can move one to change, to love our self, to evolve." ~Erykah Badu
I Respectively, you can please some of the people half of the time,
but never all of the people all of the time. It has come to the nitty-
gritty for me. After holding the position as Editor-In-Chief, I realize
that the time has come to explore amongst other things—graduation
preparation. Applying to jobs and crossing fingers, I feel that my
focus must now turn toward my ultimate goal and allow room for an
other to take over. I must thank those who supported my efforts and
Wen those who did not. I am adult enough to know when to hold
&nd when to fold and yes, I am folding.
^ This is not a defeat, but rather a conclusion after much consider
ation and thought. Again, thanks to those who read The Voice, stop
|Dy the office and offer words of encouragement on a daily basis. I
fem now returning to incense, ahnks and poems by Amiri Baraka.
I To the staff and Dr. Baker, I wish you all well and I hope that The
Voice will continue to progress as I have hoped and attempted. It's
jnot over until the fat lady sings and hopefully she will be the opening
act on May 4! ^

As we approach the end of the 2012-
2013 academic year, the process of trans
formation begins.
Some students will graduate in May
and move on to jobs or perhaps gradu
ate school. Other students will prepare
for next year, when they loill be one year
closer to graduation.
At The Voice, this is the time ive must
say goodbye to our graduates and iml-
come people into new positions.
W/e would like to thank all who have
worked on the papp- in the 2012-2013
school year, especially Jennifer Lucas and
Alisha Murphy, who served as editors in
chief this year. It is a challenging job and
we appreciate all of their hard work.
Best of luck to Alisha Murphy, who
brought a new look and feel to tlie paper.
We know you will succeed at whatever
endeavors you choose.
To other stajf members who have also
contributed to The Voice: Aaron Wil
liams, Anna Rhodes, and others, thank
you for your service as xoell.
Anna Rhodes, who was a Voice pho
tographer respotisible for some of our best
covers to date, is graduating in hAay as
well.
Congratulations and good luck to all.
For those students who xmll be back
next year, I look fonvard to working unth
you.
Thank you for your support.
