PAGE 6 WAYNE COMMUNITY COLLEGE May 5, 1969 MONDAY By: Bernie Houchins The drone of social machinery is grinding to a painful start. Soon the cogs and wheels will be spinning at a blinding pace. Back they are to the things they despise yet love in a special way. The bodies are bound to conformity yet the mind wanders back to contentment. The day of escape was only two golden moons ago, yet, it seems a lifetime. Back they go to golden words spoken on candid lips neath a glittering sky. The warm embrace of a soft body; the touch of silken hair spun like gold. The wild excitment of a fast ride, laughter ringing like bells. The velvet soft touch of a goodnight kiss, a slight dizziness. Bright sunshine sparkling on blue, sending reflections of splendor. The toll of a hard day’s work brings beads of health trickling down. The social custom for services rendered is exchanged. The grime is cleansed from the body, then drapped in the finest adornment. Anxiety is the force driving them onward in headlong flight. Back to contentment, to things they all love to hear. The weary end of yet another episode to be filed in place. The rays of sunlight reach downfrom heaven to bathe the earth. Each is alone with himself and his God. The solitude is sweet, nothing seems to disturb its beauty. The crash and thunder totally shatter its peace. The clang of tools, shouting voices whistles - the noise of society. Shaken, scared, lost in terror, suddenly they recover and realize it's only Monday and the weekend is over. NEWS FROM THE DENTAL DEPT.
