lGE 5 WAYNE COMMUNITY COLLEGE September 8, 1V6V THE FORESTRY CLUB Although the Forestry Club began only 5w months ago, it is the largest and of the most active clubs at Wayne aunity College, It is the service club the forestry department, and any lent enrolled in this curricula is eli- -e to joino The Student finds many opportunities this organization. Among them are ;ticing forest principles studied in IS, learning to operate and maintain department equipment, performing .ous services for the improvement of school, and becoming better acquainted h the instiructors in the department. Last year was a year of growth for club as the membership almost tripled members were busy in such activities lanting the holly trees in the parking , holding a Christmas dinner party, a out at which Mr, Floyd Arnold became club's first honorary member, fielding ftball team, and sponsoring the annual eo. The Rolleo is the school's biggest oor event. It consists of several etitive events such as log rol!Ling, 3 throwing, pole climbing, cammamdo L, tug of war, greased pig contest, ::.or driving contest, and several other ts. This year, believe it or not, the 5 got in on the show. There was a ig pan throw, rolling pin throw, and a ig contest. The girls also got in on greased pig chase, tractor driving, ven won a trophy in the tug of war st. It was quite a day for everyone e collegeo The Forestry Club meets twice a month, wing the business portion of the ng, many times there is a guest speaker nt to talk on forestry-related sub- , After the meeting the members and actors have a good chance to "talk s over" with refreshments of coffee oughnuts, 'dembership in the forestry club is illy $2,00 and then 50^ monthly dues, students in the department are invi ted to attend a meeting and see what the club is like before joining, Tftis year's officers are President, John Hiirdle; Vice President, Larry Stump; Secretary, Allen Matthews; Treasurer, Jay Corum; and Representatives-at-Large, Billy Callow and Pat Loving. Two additional re presentatives will be chosen from new mem berships this fall. Advisors for the club are Mr, Sam Moore, Jlr, Robert Goodman, and Mr, William Ball, New students wishing to join the club or attend a meeting should see an advisor or member of the club. Forestry club mem bers are looking forvrard to meeting new students and introducing them into the forestry department and into the forestry club. Delta Chi Omega (Cent, pg. 1) Paul Brown, treasurer; and . Ronald Wertheim, pledge master. On that day these members will be prepared to answer any and all questions concerning member ship in Delta Chi Omega, All who wish to inquire about membership are cordially invited to do so either on registration day or during the first week of classes. Several school and fraternal social activities are planned for the following school year. Activities including a road rally, dances and interval fraternity functions. Your inquiries are welcomed and we are hoping for irany new and interested brothers to help carry on the traditions and style of Delta Chi Omega,
