Studying Made Easier The Directed Studies Lab is the area of the Learning Resource Center geared toward meeting the diver sified educational needs of individuals rather than groups. It provides a study situation in which anyone eighteen years of age or older may continue his education at whatever level he needs and desires. There is no traditional classroom situation - no teacher lecturing on a specific topic; no specific hours of attendance; no tardies, ab sences, grades, or homework. The Lab is kept as free as possible of the pressures found in the traditional classroom so the student is comfortable with studying and learning. Students study by using programmed instructional materials which are designed to facilitate learning in small segments or sequences, and which allow the student to progress at his own rate. In addition, the Lab has a fine collection of audio-visual materials to provide variety .. well as increased knowledge. At least one coordinator is present at all times of the day and evening to give as much individualized instruction as necessary at the student’s request. Tests are administered periodically by the coordinator to ascertain each student’s progress. W.C.C. Student union is located directly behind A Building. This is a place where students can break between class, eat lunch, or play a game if so desired. The Union is open from 7:30 a.m. till 10 p.m. except for two hours; 3:30 till 5:30, we are closed for cleaning purposes. The Student Union board room is located in the back of the Union and may be used for meeting purposes, with a board room permit, which you can get from Mrs. Lancaster the Union director. Mrs. Lancaster’s hours are from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m., so feel free to ask her any questions you might like to know.
