2 WCC CAMPUS VOICE - FEB. 19,1992 Letter from the President Winter has tradi tionally been a time •for looking ahead to the coming o-F spring, and at Wayne Community College we expect plenty o-f exciting developments to unfold as springtime approaches. For the past two years, enrollment increases have gener ated the largest number o-f students in the history of the college. Spring quarter enrollment is expected to continue this trend as more and more individuals realize that education is a necessary step in order for people to compete in a techno logical and selective job market. As construc t i on continues on 2 new buildings on the North Campus, a gradual move into these facilities should begin sometime during spring quarter. If the project remains on schedule, the first classes in the new buildings could be offered as early as summer of 1992. The col 1ege i s particularly fortunate to be able to continue construction during a time of statewide budget woes and the worst construction slump in decades. Our good fortune has not happened merely by chance. Rather i t has been the result of many individuals' hard work and dedication. Faculty, staff and community support has played a major role in the advancement of WCC, from the new campus environment to the success of our Founda tion, which has raised more than ^388 thousand in the past four years. At the core of WCC's success are the stu dents and employees who ensure our instruc tional quality is second to none. New leadership is also on the horizon for Wayne Community Col 1ege. In September I announced to the Board of Trustees my plans for ret i remen t. Now a systematic search for a new president is fully underway and should be completed in the next few months. Work i ng with the faculty, staff and students of this institution has been one of the most reward ing experiences of my career, and I will continue to wish the best for the Wayne Ccswnunity College fami 1y. As you pursue your educational goals here at WCC, you too are part of the family. You can help your college by encouraging others to seek the opportunities that they need here at Wayne Conwnunity College.
