Golf team
finishes fourth

For the sixth season
Uayne Community College
has competed in the
Eastern Carolina
Community College
Athletic <ECCCA) golf
program.
The team had an 8-12
season, f i n i sh i n g
fourth in i ts .di i si on .
The team played 5
matches against each of
the following 4 teams:
Coastal Carolina,
Craven, Edgecombe, and
Pi tt.
Each team had 6
players at a match;
then officals took the
top 4 scores to decide
the winners.
The matches were
played in a medalist
tournament style of 18
hoies.
UCC''s home course is
the Three Eagles Golf
Course on Seymour
Johnson Air Force Base.

The Bison Golf Team
played some excellent
golf courses in the
area and experienced
great weather,
according to Coach
David Deakle,
instructor in the
Business Department.
During the Athletic
Banquet on May 21
Deakle will be awarding
outstanding players.
Deakle said, "Golf
teaches students the
importance of
discipline, sports
manship, and the need
to master a technique
and achieve one"s
goaIs."
Deakle is looking
forward to next season
and wouId like to
invite all those who
are interested in

place in the conference
this season.
The team played
against Carteret, Cape
Fear, Coastal Carolina,
and Sandh ills.

In doubles matches,
the pairs were Ames-
Joyner, Kramer-Lamon,
and Eubanks-Bailey.
During the season
the team played 6
matches and an exhibi
tion match, ending with
a 5-2 season.
UlCC played against
Coastal Carolina,
Craven, and Pitt
Community Colleges and
uion the exhibition
match against Chowan
Col 1ege.
During the 1992
ECCCA Tennis Tournament
the 4 top seeds from
UlCC achieved these
standings: Joyner
first, Ames second,
Kramer second, and
Lamon third in
individual play.
