EOP scholarships

College chapter of the
North Carolina Asso
ciation of Educational
Office Personnel (WCC—
NCAEOP) for 1991-1992
are AI thea Boytj and
Dana Ham.
The SZSO scholar
ships are awarded on
the basis of academic
achievement,
ini t i at i ve, and
financial need,
according to EOF
scholarship guidelines.
Boyd, a second year
student enrolled in the
Ear 1y Ch i1dhood
Education program, is
a single parent and
mother of 3 sons.
She plans to enter the
College Transfer
program at UCC to
pursue a bachelor's
degree in education.
Dana Ham, also a
second year student at
UCC, is enrolled in the
Business Adkni n i strat i on
/Accounting program.
After graduating.
Ham, also a single
parent, plans a career
in business management.
The WCCEOP
scholarship has been
awarded twice annually
since 1978.
UCCEOP members raise
scholarship funds
through yard and bake
sales and raffles.
The scholarship
committee consists of
Frances Allen,
President} Gerald
Heath-Braswell, ^ice-
President; and Vanessa
Carmon, chairman.
The WCCEOP consists
of 28 active members
and 27 associate
members.
Wiggins awarded
NCAE schoiarship

Nan Wiggins, a
second year student at
Wayne Community
Col 1ege, i s the
recipient of a $300
North Carolina Asso
ciation of Educators
(NCAE) scholarship.
Wiggins, enrolled in
the College Transfer
program, plans to
transfer to Barton
College in the fall to
pursue a career in
teaching elementary
school .
Wiggins feels that
children need teachers
who are positive role
models.
On the application
Wiggins wrote,"Teaching
wi11 enable me to
influence young
people's lives as well
as encourage parental
involvement in the
education of children.*
Dixon wins slot in
Walt Disney World
College Program

Lor i Dixon, a
student at Wayne
Community College, has
been selected from
college students in the
area for an in ter ship
with Walt Disney World.

She is the first WCC
student to be accepted
after interviewing for
the position at East
Carolina University

Dixon, enrolled in
the Ear1y Ch i1dhood
Associate program, will
work for 2 quarters as
a Resort Fast Food
Hostess with the Walt
Disney World College
Program at the
University of Central
FI or i da.
The program wi11
begin August 26, 1992,
and end January 6,
1993.
During this time, if
Dixon has decided to
accept the offer, she
wi 11 have the
■opportunity to view
the administration of a
large commercial
recreational facility
through both practical
hourly-level work
experience and seminar
instruct i on".
The program
guarantees Dixon a
minimum of 30 hours per
week with a pay rate of
S5.30 per hour.
Dixon will have to
provide for her own
housing; she can enroll
at the University of
Central Florida for
♦150 if she desires.
The curriculum of
the program includes
seminars in Theme Park
Management, and Disney
Strategy: An Approach
to Managing and
Commun i cat ing.
A final work
performance review and
an attendance record
for the mandatory
seminars will be
forwarded to WCC upon
Dixon's completion of
the program.
