WCC welcomes new employees

Several new
employees have joined
the- staff at Wayne
Communi'Ey College
within the last year.
Susan Fowler began
as a dental hygiene
instructor on August
31, 1992.
Fowler comes to WCC
from the State Dental
Health Office in
Raleigh where she was a
dental hygiene
consultant.
Before that she
worked in public health
in Johnston County.
She also spent 5 years
in private practice.
Fowler graduated
from UNC-Chapel Hill
with a B.S. in dental
hygiene.
She lives in Clayton
with her husband, a
coach at Clayton High
School, and her two
children, ages 5 and 8.
Fowler is interested
in sports, especially
water and snow skiing.
She also loves crafts.
Anne Millington
recently came to WCC as
a Job Coordinator in
the Cooperative
Education and Job
Placement office.
Millington's main
function is to match
students looking for
employment with local
employers.
She also teaches
"Introduction to the
World of Work," in
which students learn
how to write resumes
and conduct interviews.
Millington attended
the University of
Maryland and West
Virginia University,
and was certified to
teach at East Carolina
University in 1990.
Her specialty is
math and science,
Millington came to
WCC from the public
school system, but
previously worked for 7
years with the
Employment Security
Commission in Virginia.
She has 2 sons, one
in college at UNC-
Wilmington, and the
other an eighth-grader.
In her spare time
Millington is taking
the Dale Carnegie
Public Speaking class
which she hopes to
teach.
She also enjoys
flower arranging.
Howie Shaw has been
Emergency Medical
Technician instructor
for 4 years but was
hired as the part-time
Assistant to the
Emergency Medical
Services Coordinator in
March.
He also works full
time with the City of
Goldsboro Fire
Department in the
Rescue Division where
he has been an
Emergency Medical
Technician since 1984.
Shaw is the son of
City Council Member
Howard "Buddy" Shaw who
was the Eastern Office
Supervisor of the
Office of Emergency
Medical Services.
His mother is a
nurse, so he comes from
a "rescue family."
Shaw is married and
has one daughter who is
2.
He officiates
football on the junior
varsity level in his
spare time.
Tonya Weber is a
part-time secretary in
the Planning and
Research Department.
October 16th marked
the first anniversary
of her employment at
WCC.
One of Weber's
responsibilities is to
develop surveys using
the desktop publisher
"Bubble Print."
These surveys are
used to develop
objectives and make
changes based on
program needs.
Weber graduated from
WCC in the Medical
Office Technology
program.
During the summer of
1991 she filled in for
Leasa Holmes in the
office of Linwood
Anderson, Vice |
President of Support
Services.
