12 WCC CAMPUS VOICE - NOV. 18,1992 Foundation kicks off fundraiser By DENISE DEISLER The Foundation of Wayne Community College kicked off its annual fundraiser on October 5th from 12:30 to 2:30. Kick-off activities included a barbeque lunch and a variety show. God's Association, a student gospel group, opened the show. Performances by Visiting Artist, Cynthia Mitchell highlighted the show. She sang two songs and told a story, all of which related to the theme of "Homcoming." Malcolm Shearin, Director, Media Production, accompanied her on guitar, and Steve James, his "picking buddy," accompanied on banjo. The Foundation Committee drew laughs from the crowd with a comedy skit. D.J.Co1es, SGA President, followed with a solo vocal performance of two songs, one of which he wrote. Cyndi Ca\nady, Fashion Merchandising and Marketing student, performed a country western number. Liz Meador and Rosalyn Lomax, English instructors, finished up the show with a skit and a duet. Branch, and Gina The Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that solicits private gifts of money and property to enhance the educational programs and services WCC offers. " This year's goal is to raise $120,000." said Jo Ann Bruce, Executive Director. She said that funding for scholar ships is always the first priority of the Foundation.
