The budget for
Information Systems
this fiscal year is
$79,000, excluding the
newly acquired Prime.
Students have access
to 4 computer labs: 2
in the ASM Building
used for reading and
composition classes, 1
in the Mechanical
Studies Building, and 1
in the LC Building.
In addition,
students may use 2
computers in the
Writing Center.
Whichard predicts
even more computer use
in the future: "I see
the college installing
25-30 more computers
yearly."
Whichard said
departments giving
computers the greatest
use are the Business
Department for
keyboarding, spread
sheets, graphics, and
word processing; and
the Liberal Arts
Department for word
processing and reading
skills.
Other curricula
using computers include
the Engineering and
Mechanical Studies
Departments.
Six computers at the
airport are used as
teaching machines, and
the Nursing Department
has a multimedia
computer on order to
assist with
instruction.
Work study students
serve as monitors in
the labs open at hours
published in the
Information Bulletin
each quarter.
