Faculty retiring, new employees joining WCC

Joe Outlaw

Joe Outlaw started
part-time at WCC 23
years ago in the
Agriculture Science
program as an
instructor.
His interests
include raising
registered Angus cattle
with his son.
Outlaw plans to
spend more time with
his wife and to
continue raising cattle
after he retires.
Outlaw graduated
from North Carolina
State University with a
B.S. in Animal Science
and Animal Husbandry in
1953.
He said his most
memorable experience
happened when a student
came back and told him
how well the Ag Science
program had prepared
him.
Outlaw will be
retiring the last of
June of 1994.
Joel Hoyle will be
taking his place.

Joel Hoyle began his

Hoyle says he likes
college students as
opposed to high school
students because they
are where they,want to
be and plan to make
this field their
profession.
Hoyle graduated from
Clemson University in
1988 with a B.S. in
Animal Science and a
master's in Agriculture
Education.
Hoyle enjoys fishing
and baseball. His
favorite team is the
Atlanta Braves.
Another faculty
member, Marie Johnson,
an accounting
instructor, will retire
on May 31, 1994, with
30 years teaching
experience.
She began at WCC in
1964 after her
graduation from ECU
where she earned a
bachelor's and a
master's in business
education.

Johnson also
attended N.C. State for
graduate work beyond
her master's and
Appalachian to renew a
certificate.
Johnson says that
the thing she will miss
the most is the
students.
She plans to restore
her old home place and
to start walking.
One of Johnson's
most memorable
experience's was the
old campus and its
offices.
