By JOSEPH BROWN On April 11-13, 1995, an inspection team will be arriving at WCC. The Southern Association of Colleges and Universities (SACS) team will consist of 14 members, according to Ralph Leach, Steering Committee Chair and Division Director of Applied and Mechanical Studies. SACS will be at WCC to discuss the criteria needed for WCC to be re-accredited. Every 10 years schools who are members of SACS undergo inspection. Before the inspection team arrives, WCC does a self-study, which started 2 years prior to this year's inspection. Approximately 140 faculty and staff members participated in the writing of the self-study document. They made 40 Recommendations and over 60 Suggestions in the 318-page document. Recommendations and Suggestions made by both the inspection team and the WCC Self- Study Committee will be debated on April 13 at a forum where all students are welcome. Leach said Recommendations are dealt with before the inspection team arrives. WCC has until the following year to comply with the outcome of this meeting. Leach said that certain issues may still be under debate during that time, but he felt assured that WCC will still be accredited. Class credits from a school that has not been accreditted are not transferable. Leach said that he would discourage any student that was thinking of attending a college that was not accredited.
