Election yields new student leaders
Hiram Grady

At the SGA election
held on April 27, 1995,
students chose new
leaders for their
Student Government
Association: Hiram
Grady, President;
Max "Buck" Rich, Vice-
President; and Lisa
Stell, Secretary.
Grady, now
completing his first
year in the Associate
Degree Nursing program,
worked from 1985-1994
in the North Carolina
Division of Motor
Vehicles.
Buck Rich
A native of Albany,
GA, he graduated from
South Lenoir High
School in Deep Run, NC
in 1980. He is married
to LaRue and has a son,
Christopher, aged 5^.
Grady is active in
church and community
activities in Kinston.
Grady said in his
statement of Intention
to Run for Office: "I
will represent our
school in a mature and
responsible manner and
will make certain that
all opinions and points
of view are heard and
respected."

Lisa Steli
Rich was born in
Baltimore, MD. He
graduated from Dundalk
Senior High School and
joined the Air Force
where he attained the
rank of staff sergeant
after 6 years of
service.
He served as a state
certified electrician
apprenticeship and
worked as an outside
salesman for Womack
Electrical Supply
Company. Rich now is
self-employed in his
own company. Baas
Construction.
Married to Andi,
Rich has 2 children.
Amber, 7, and Stephen,
3. His hobbies include
country music, playing
the guitar, fishing and
sports. He also write
children’s books.
He said in his
Intention statement:
"I am not one to sit
around and complain.
If something needs
fixing, fix it and
press on." Rich said
he thanks each person
who helped in the
election. "I am proud
to attend WCC and I am
looking forward to
helping make this year
one to remember."
Stell, a first-year
student in the Parks
program, graduated from
Athens Drive High
School in Raleigh and
from North Carolina
Wesleyan College where
she earned a B.A. in
English.
She worked in the
Writing Center at
Louisburg College
tutoring students and
helping them with
aspects of the writing
process.

colleges which have
membership in the
Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools
(SACS) undergo intense
scrutiny for reaffirma
tion.
Beginning in
September 1993, WCC
prepared for
reaffirmation by
writing a 318-page
Self-Study report, an
analysis of all aspects
of the college.
The Self-Study
Report is based on
criteria developed by
SACS and expressed as
"must" and "should"
statements to which
more than 70 faculty,
staff, and students
responded.
SACS Team parti
cipants came from
Texas, Georgia,
Alabama, Virginia,
Florida, Kentucky, and
South Carolina to
analyze the report and
inspect the college.
