2 WCC CAMPUS VOICE - aiAY 3. 1999 Because you asked* . . By RUSTY PRATT Q; The current attendance policy allows for a 20% absentee rate. If a student has a bonafide emergency (sickness, etc), does the student have any option not to be dismissed from class automatically? A: If a student has unique circumstances that cause him or her to exceed the 20% absentee rule, the student and instructor can meet with the Vice President and based on the facts presented, special provisions may be worked out to allow the student to continue classes. Q: What are the 3 most important qualities for the Three Outstanding Women of Wayne Community College? A; Leadership, empathy, dedication. Q: How do you think history will treat the impeachment of President Clinton? A: Because he wasn't convicted, I don't think history will mention the impeachment much at all. I do think that the political motivation will get as much attention as what he did. Also, with the economic success as it is during his tenure and the reduction of the budget, these will probably be defined as his legacy. Q: Do you see any relief in the bookstore on book pricing? Some other schools are attempting to reduce prices to students by some form of competition. A: The prices are set by the piiblishers with some mark-up for bookstore operation. I would think though, hopefully, that internet shopping may put some pressure on the publishers to reduce prices. Q: Do you see a future "enclosed" smoking area on campus? Do you see a designated smoking area in the future? A: I can't personally see requiring smokers to go to a designated smoking area. As long as they are outside the building I feel that is enough. I also don't see an indoor smoking facility as being cost- effective for the college.
