International
Students’ Club
The spring semester has seen the
20-member International
Students’ Club (ISC), begun in
December 1999, gearing up for
various activities, according to
adviser Kathryn Spicer.
At its monthly meetings,
members share information about
their native lands. In March,
Sevda Zumbo from Turkey, used
a power point program including
maps and photographs of sites to
give other members an overview
of the social, political, economic
aspects of Turkey.
Refreshments consisted of
various Turkish desserts.
Officers for the club include
Kwai Chun Chan, president;
Gerardo Guifarro, vice president;
Santiago David Ortega, second
vice president; Natalie Chan,
secretary; and Marilou Barab,
treasurer.
The club was inducted into the
WCC SGA in February 2000. Its
purpose is to provide a support
group for sharing cultural
exchange.
Kam Lee and Henry Lam are
designing a web page for the
group,
The club is determining fund
raisers as well as designing a logo,
a project spearheaded by vice
president Guifarro.

The WCC Association of
Nursing Students (ANS) has
received several h'onors at the
state level, according to co
advisers Sue Beaman and Patti
Pfeiffer.
Beaman was selected as adviser-
of-the-year, and nursing student
Phyllis Hembree was elected a
state officer for the Through to
Nursing program (BTN).
The club also received the
community service award for its
aid to flood victims and
participation in the American
Heart Walk, among other
projects.

representatives.
