PHOTO: JASON ROWE By BRIAN WEEKS On Wednesday, March 15, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., the Wayne Community College Co op and Job Referral Department and the Seymour Johnson Family Support Center sponsored the Tenth Annual Wayne County Job Fair during which representatives from 70 businesses and industries shared information about employment with students and the public. According to Anne Millington of Co-op and Job Placement, the purpose of the Job Fair is to give •Wayne County residents the opportunity to discuss their career interests with professionals informally and a way for employers to improve the quality of their workforce. Millington said, “This year’s job fair focused strongly on technical and vocational occupations, and we appreciated instructors who brought their students.” Millington and Olhe Foster of Seymour Johnson have collaborated for the last 5 years to bring the event to campus. Participating businesses included health groups-the American Red Cross, Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Goldsboro Unit Vocational Rehabilitation, Home Health and Hospice, Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Wayne Memorial Hospital, and A Small Miracle. Law enforcement and security groups included“the Winston- Salem Police Department, the Richmond Sheriffs Office (Richmond, VA), the Rocky Mount Police Department, the NC Department of Correction, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the Wilson Police Department, the NC State Highway Patrol, and Allied Security.
