Joy Ginn, Personnel Director, organized the event with the help of several health specialists from Wayne County and surrounding counties. The specialists provided free health advice at information booths and displays. Representatives came from Wayne Memorial Hospital, Division of the Blind, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (Ron Harris), Eastern Associate Speech and Language Services, Preventive Health Therapy out of Raleigh (Keith Bouchard), Proactive Therapy, Dr. Longman, and Dr.Haverkamp. Also the North Carolina Sickle Cell Disease Association (Marsha Newsome), and students from the WCC Dental and Nursing Programs. Ginn said, “The Wellness Fair was a big success. Over 200 people visited at least one of the 19 stations at the fair.” The fair also provided screenings for blood pressure, body composition, cholesterol, diabetes, glaucoma, hearing, skin cancer, and vision. The screenings made students, faculty and staff aware of potential dangers that may cause serious health problems. continued p. 21 Support your SGA!
