Students, staff learn
about their 'Alcohol l.Q.'

Students, faculty, and staff
had an opportunity to test
their alcohol intelligence
quotient on Wednesday, April
4, from 10 to 1 and April 6,
from 8 to 11 when
representatives from the
Wayne County Mental Health
Association set up
information displays in the
Atrium.
Sissy Newell, executive
director. Dr. John Fischer,
chairman of screening, and
Joan Hackmann, a board
member, conducted the
Alcohol Intelligence Quotient
(Alcohol l.Q.) tests and
manned the displays.
Tl^kie Lee, feature writer for
the Goldsboro News-Argus
spoke to journalism students
about the basic principles of
feature writing.
Lee has donated several books
wSbovLt writing to the journalism
staff.
The purposes of the event
were to raise awareness about
alcohol abuse and to test
participants about their
alcohol consumption.
About 102 students and
staff participated.
Newell said this number
constituted “a successful
visit” to the college.
These tests not only provide
the association with statistics
but also allow members to
counsel the students about any
problems they may encounter
because of to alcohol in their
lives.
