APRIL 30. 2004 - WCC CAMPUS VOICE 3 New employees abound in fall, spring By HOLLY C. SUTTON and TARA L. WATSON Derek Hubbard Derek Hubbard is a new housekeeper. His job duties include cleaning the WCC campus. Hubbard attended high school in Mustang, OK. While in Oklahoma he worked at Standard Building Maintenance where he was the housekeeping supervisor for 8-1/2 years. He enjoys going to the beach and traveling with his family as well as writing in his free time. Hubbard thinks that there are a lot of “nice folks” here at WCC, and claims to be “just a regular guy.” Barb Russo Barb Russo is a criminal justice instructor. She teaches criminal justice courses, specializing in corrections. Russo received her master’s from LaSalle University and a bachelor’s from Averett University. Her most recent jobs were at Lees-M^^ Rae College and UNC-Pembroke. She likes the close-knit family atmosphere here at WCC. Russo enjoys sports, free lance writing, and working with domestic violence agencies. She is a 3-time USSSA Softball World Champion as well as a former college softball coach. Jeffrey Bright Jeffrey Bright is the EMS coordinator and instructor. As the paramedic instructor he sets up and organizes EMS classes. Bright is a certified Level II EMS Paramedic Instructor as well as an EMT-Paramedic. He recently worked on the Granville County EMS and at Nash Community College. Bright is married to Lisa and has 2 stepdaughters, Kimberly, 15, and Allison, 14. He loves spending time with his girls. He says that WCC has a great environment and a very friendly, helpfiil staff. Silvia Judd Silvia Judd is the new librarian. She assists patrons, orders books, answers reference questions, and researches topics. Judd received her BA from Barton in 1999 and a master’s in library science from University of Southern Mississippi in 2001. Before coming to WCC Judd worked at Wilson County Public Library for 8 years and Ascension Parish Library for 2 V2 years. When Judd first arrived at WCC, she found it a “cheerftil and relaxed work environment,” she said, “everyone is very courteous and kind.” Judd and husband Jerry have a 5-month-old son, Alexander. During her free time she enjoys reading, hiking and cooking. Judd adds, “I always knew I was going o be a librarian. I have a worksheet from kindergarten where I drew myself as checking out books to people when I grew up!” Sujatha Chittilla Sujatha Chittilla is the new Literacy Center Instructional Team Leader who provides instructional plans, evaluates student progress, and supports students and instructors. Chittilla received her BS degree from Andhra University, majoring in zoology and minoring in chemistry with an Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. Chittilla worked 8 years as a part-time instructor in Basic Skills as a math and TLC instructor. Chittilla is married and is the mother of a son and daughter. During her free time she enjoys cooking and reading. She added, “I like my job a lot, especially working with ESL students.” WELCOME, NEW EMPLOYER! Michael Bloom Michael Bloom works in the Academic Skills Center as an instructor. He gives supplemental instruction in math and science as well as college preparatory classes. Bloom has an AS in pre engineering and a BS in computer science. His previous employment was in the USAF from 1993- 1998. He has been employed at WCC since 1999. Bloom states that WCC is a wonderful school while also being a great place to work. Susan B. Lambert Susan B. Lambert, new Human Service instructor, is also advisor for the human services Students Committee Involvement, and advisor for the Human Services Club. Lambert received her BA in psychology from ECU, a master’s in counseling from Campbell University, and master’s studies in psychology - ECU (ongoing). She is also a licensed Professional Counselor. Before coming to WCC Lambert worked at Wilson Tech CC, Lenoir CC, Wayne County Public Schools, and in Private Practice. continued page 26
