Clubs Criminal Justice Club MAY 2, 2005 - WCC CAMPUS VOICE 13 from page 12 The Criminal Justice club sponsored a Spring Formal at the Herman Park Recreation Center. The formal was healed March 5 from 7:00pm. Until 11pm. Student and staff enjoyed the evening dancing and laughing while enjoying refreshments. Phi Theta Kappa Friday, February 18, at 2 p.m. in Moffat Auditorium, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society held its spring 2005 member induction ceremony. Twenty-six new members were inducted. Members of PTK are the top 10 percent of community college students and have an overall GPA of 3.5. Officers for PTK include Julie Hollowell, President; Thomas Garrou, Vice- President of Leadership; Steven Crowder, Vice- President of Fellowship; Karen Herron, Vice-President of Scholarship; Deena Stutts, Vice-President of Service; and Public Relations Officer Starr Whitmore. Multi-Cultural Association for Enrichment On Thursday, February 24, at 2 p.m. the Multi-Cultural Association for Enrichment (MCAE) presented “The Apollo Show” in the Moffat Auditorium. Performances included a spiritual interpretive dance by Michael Truzy to a contemporary vocal piece. In January the group sponsored the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration and a shoe drive. International Students Club The International Students Club consisted of foreign and immigrant students that have a close-knit relationship. One Saturday of every month the club members meet at the local soup kitchen to feed those in need. Other activities include presentations on a different ■ country every month, helping Habitat for Humanities by painting a house, holding a fundraiser for the tsunami victims, and sponsoring 2 “Lunch and Learn” seminars. Students and faculty have also contributed to Spring Fling. They will participate in Relay for Life, and they helped raise money for Haywood Community College after the campus was destroyed by a flood. Officers are as follows: Michael Kwon, President; Phoebe Yueng, Vice President; Debra Curl, Secretary; Maria Rigdon, Treasurer; and computer technician Roldolpho Trejo. Agriculture Club The Agriculture Club held a recruitment barbeque in April with all the aspects of a great cookout. After having a meeting specifically designated for the discussion of how to cook a pig, the occasion went off great. They also attended the North Carolina Agricultural State Fair, which is an annual staple in their agenda. The officers include: Jeremy Price, President; John Tyndall, Vice President; and Chere Staton, Secretary/ Treasurer.
