By SASHA KOVACEVIC Staff Writer The renovations and construction at Wayne Community College are going “very well,” according to Dr. Ed Wilson, college president. Dr. Wilson discussed the latest news during a recent interview with the Campus Voice. He said that the work on the new bookstore and the old business office, both located in the Wayne Learning Center, is expected to be completed and occupied by the end of this month. The WLC first floor has practically been redesigned to accommodate student needs. Dr. Wilson explained that the original floor plan in the 1970s was set up so that the entire first floor would be for students. A separate administration building was planned. However, that much space was not needed at the time, so the college had the administration and business offices put in the WLC building, and the additional building was never built. The celebration will begin with the dedication of the Spruce building and the burying of a time capsule. As WCC looks forward to upcoming events. Dr. Wilson is preparing to retire. Next semester will be his last as president. He said that he is looking forward to watching his grandchildren play ball, spending time with his family, and also having time to get out on the golf course more often.
