We have become a superior college in the past few years with his help. His Open Door Policy for students, faculty and staff is one of his best assets. He has always been very supportive of every initiative that the Wayne Com munity College Foundation has tried. He has not only given leadership to Wayne Community College, but Wayne County as well through his involve ments.” -Jack Kannan Executive Director, WCC Foundation Stories by TORI PAYNTER and LAUREN GARDNER The Campus Voice Staff: Tamara Baltazar, Kris Best, Kristen Brown, Keimy Creech, Christopher Daniel, Rebecca Fortner, Lauren Gardner, Tavoris Graham, Rebecca Harvey, Amanda Hestand, Daphne Hines, Sasha Kovacevic, Nicole Milliken, Tori Paynter, Andy Raj ski, Kelly Stancil, Juliana Surratt, Keefe Traendly, Christian Tumage, Ashley Watson and Stephanie Whitfield. He has many years and vast experience in the community college system, and he has always been willing to be a mentor/teacher. Dr Wilson believes in discussing issues with everyone who is involved. We all function as a team, (which is) beneficial. An additional benefit is that Dr. Wilson has tremendous resources or networks throughout the nation, state and community, which helps get additional information for discussion and decision making. He also knows how to have fun and we are able to laugh a lot. That is how work should be; you should be able to have fun.” -Dr. Kay Albertson, Vice President, Student Services and Academic Affairs “I have worked as Dr Wilson’s assistant and assistant secretary to the Board of Trustees since he became president of Wayne Community College. I would describe my experiences as both rewarding and challenging. Dr Wilson is very knowledgeable and well respected at Wayne Community College and throughout the entire community college system. I truly feel by working with Dr Wilson, I have worked with the best president of the community college system. He will be missed and his shoes will be hard to fill.” -Joy Ginn Secretary “I’ve worked with him for five and a half years and it has been very pleasant and a positive learning experience. He is a very knowledgeable man, and it will be hard to replace him. I consider it an honor to work for him.” -Robin Wheeler Secretary “Dr Wilson is willing to share his thoughts and ask others’ opinions. There have been many times he has come into my office... and asked for my opinion on issues. He is very receptive of ideas. He involves his staff in decision making, which keeps us informed and allows us to make choices in what we do. He is not a micro-manager; he tells us what he wants and lets us do our jobs. One very important thing about Dr Wilson is that he is 100% student oriented; the first question that he always asks is how it affects the student... He is very involved in the community and encourages his staff to be active in community organi zations and events. A great boss to work for and leam from.” -Ken Ritt Vice President Educational Support Services Donald Radford 1554 West New Hope Rd.
