Ann Spicer, who passed away in January, has been selected as the North Carolina Association for Developmental Education’s Educator of the Year for 2007. The NCADE Board thought Ms. Spicer’s contributions to the field of developmental education were outstanding and met the criteria for the award. Due to this award being presented posthumously, Wayne Community College will receive a plaque displaying the award, and the board has indicated that they would like to present $300 to the WCC Foundation to be earmarked as a scholarship for a well-deserving entering developmental student. The award will be presented at the NCADE statewide conference this fall. The conference will be held in Charlotte. This nomination will be submitted to the National Association for Developmental Education’s Awards Committee for consideration for the 2008 national award.
