STUDENT COMMONS
On April 2, 1969, Spring Quar
ter began for WCC students in
the college facilities located just
west of Wilkesboro.
The three new buildings,
Thompson, Hayes, and Lovette
Halls, lie in the picturesque hills
which are the main attraction of
Western North Carolina, The
students seem to feel very satis
fied with the new campus and feel
that their sojourn in Wilkesboro
and North Wilkesboro was worth
while.
The buildings were very well
designed to utilize space and
provide an attractive atmosphere
in which to work and study. Ad
ministrative offices and class
rooms feature the latest in light
ing and decor. Each room is dif
ferent to distract from the mon
otony so present in most public
school buildings.
Most of the interiors of the
buildings are complete with the
exception of the library which
will be ready in the near future.
bn the outside the parking
areas are now adequate with
more parking areas being
prepared. Landscaping has been
hampered by the inclement wea
ther but is presently being
worked on.
Student reaction has been good
with very few complaints. Every
one seems to be happy just being
in one spot and meeting their
fellow students.
English Teachers
At Convention
Two of the English teachers

Florida. Mrs. Diane Hepler and
Mrs. Brenda Moore flew to
Miami on April 14 where they
spent the first three days at a
film festival at Miami Dode Jun

better films for college classes.
The convention had as a key
note speaker James McCrimmon
who many students at WCC have
learned to respect through the
