THE COUGAR CRY. NOVEMBER 17, 1971 — PAGE 3 Reminder To The Students PATTY CLEARY SANDRA JONES ’Dem Rushes Editor’s note: Wodsroth Nernfellow observes the world through perverted eyes. Part 1 Paradisio Met J. C. on the buzz. I wonder what he does, for a living? With one eye squinted, looking into a bottle of Ripple Wine, he said, “It’s tough being divine.” He looked good and was feeling Merry, but she left, so he talked to me about some guy named “Light Beaver” being a fairy. He told me of one of his fre quent passes (disguised with Foster-Grant sunglasses) on a girl named Europe. But Mimir’s at his mountain and all is well with the world (except for some girl feeling pain, still mourning for her king who looked too far and died of apparent eye strain.) The sky was half black and half white. The sun was in the white. I expected night when it reached black but it shone just as intensely in the black side. A girl came up and said, “I know you love me J. C. but could you do it a little more physically?” The Notre Dame fans were still rootin’ the hallcinogenic effects of fig newtons. Noah was having ham for breakfast. “Sodomy makes him hungry” said J. C. to me. Fall Drama Production Held The Drama Department of Wilkes Community College staged its first productions of the season November 11 and 12 at 8:00 P.M. in the college au ditorium. “The Tiger,” written by Mur ray Schisgal, was particularly relevant to us as students. Roy Chapman played an aspiring college student who seemed hopelessly enveloped in a sense of futility and depersonaliza tion. However, the play ended on a note of optimism as his lover, played by Debby Bennett was instrumental in at least partialy resolving his problems. Rick Carter was the director. The “Dirty Old Man,” writ ten by Lewis John Carlino, draws upon a more universal theme—the nostalgia prevalent in old age. Greg Caldwell, Robert McNeill, and Belinda Bumgarner were the players, and Kay Greer was the director. Sad But True A woman never really makes a fool of a man. She j ust directs the performance. -W.O.W. Magazine. Digestable You will not get indiges tion if you swallow your pride now and then. -Front Line, Cedar Rapids. Retm Cc 'omey By Greg Caldwell I am a boy of 19 years Off in the jungle all alone Living a life of constant fear Fighting a war not my own And I ask myself, what am I doing here? God, how I wish I were home. We march in the jungle We march till the noon-day sun When will all my fears be gone? When will I be rid of this giui? And I ask myself, what am I doing here? God, how I want to go home! I dream of a girl with golden hair. With eyes of emerald green. They came, took me away from her — What does all this Mean? And I ask myself, what am I doing here? God, how I wish I were home! I’m to leave this death veiled place To somewhere clean and free. Home to my wife, OH! What’s that face? It’s her! and she’s coming to me! And I ask myself, what is she doing here? God! She’s supposed to be home. A gunshot behind me, a pain in my neck, I fall to my knees, to my face— I try to look up, my body’s a wreck. My love disappears without a trace And I ask myself, what am I doing here? God, tell me, where is my home? I can’t feel any pain now. Death is much too near. I cannot find my rifle, Gone is all my fear. And I ask myself, what am I doing here? God, I’m on my way home. A Christmas dance has been scheduled. The date, band, and place will be announced in the paper at a later date. For the first time in the school’s history, a homecoming dance has been planned for January. A homecoming queen will be chosen and a dance will be held afterwards. Details will be published later when plans are completed. Anyone knowing of a good band please contact an S.G.A. member. We need variety at our dances and all suggestions will be appreciated. To all students leaving us: We are sorry you are leaving and we hope you have enjoyed Wilkes Community College. Any student needing money see me, Ken Greene. We can cry together. ONE MINUTE SPORTS QUIZ 1. What two runners recently met in the super-mile race? 2. Who won? 3.
