Bob Johnston To Be On TV
Mr. Robert Johnston, in
structor for Hotel-Motel Man
agement, will be interviewed on
the “Today at Home” show pn
Channel 12, July 30 at 10 a.m.
where he will be boosting
Wilkes Commimity College and
its Hotel-Motel Program.
Mr. Johnston, a native of
New York, is a graduate of the
Hotel Management Program at
Cornell University in Ithaca,
New York. He worked in the
management field imtil 1973,
when he left a position as
resident manager of the Mon-
honk Mountain House to come
to Wilkes County. Here he
was discovered by Wilkes Com
munity College and brought
into the Hotel-Motel Program,
at first as a part-time instruct
or. Mr. Johnston came with
the college full-time in Sep
tember, 1973.
His Hotel-Motel Program in
cludes a variety of instruction:
food preparation, desk clerking,
motel management, bookkeep
ing, and even the care and
cleaning' of. rooms. Students
do an internship at local motels,
restaurants, and resorts to re
ceive on-the-job experience. In
addition, they prepare meals
for important functions at the
college.
In the TV interview, Mr.
Johnston will discuss the Hotel-
Motel Management Program
and will answer a number of
questions about Wilkes Com
munity College.

Activation Of
Veterans Club
Veterans of at least six
months active duty in the arm
ed forces of the United States
are invited to attend a meeting
of the Veteran’s Club. The pur
pose of the meeting will be r'-
elect offciers for next year
plan activities.
The sub-purpose of the get-
together will be to meet other
veterans and our fearless spon
sor, Mac Warren.
The date is set for August
2 in the evening. For a speci
fic time and place, contact the
Student Counselor’s office.
