FELTS MITCHELL JOHNSON KIM WHITESIDES Fine Arts Degree Proposed Application is being made to the curriculum committee at WCC to have approval for a Fine Arts Degree, Hopefully, this will come about before the winter quarter. It has been approved by the state Board of Education for community col leges and offers a major in drama or music or art. It looks as if the Fine Arts Degree wiU come about and courses are now being readied for approval. Mrs. Goodnow To Sing Mrs. Winona Goodnow, out standing Wilkes vocalist, will present a 45-minute program of songs to the Music Apprecia tion Class on Friday, 11 October at 12:00 in the teaching audi torium. All interested students and faculty are invited. The program will consist of the following songs: “Lullaby” Brahms “Morning” Speaks “Ave Mario” Schubert “Ave Maria” Bach-Goimod “Ombra Mai Fu” Handel “Be Thou But Near” Bach “Come Unto Him” Handel “Agnus Dei” Bizet “lich Liebe Dich” .... Bethoven “Alleluia” Mozart Club News Chess Club In spite of several new play ers with considerable skill, the chess club is off to a slow start. Perhaps some ideas are not clear. (1- You do not have to be an expert to enjoy the game. (2) Pieces are available in the library to listed members. (3- There will be no action unless students initiate it. Phi Beta Pambda Phi Beta Lambda is a na tional organization of college or university students enrolled in one or more business subjects. Ira G. Gambill and Mr. Robert Roche are the Phi Beta Lambda sponsors for the 1974-75 year. Both Mr, Gambill and Mr. Roche have high hopes for the club this year and stated that this is a club for students, and that the students could have a club as great as they want. Any one enrolled in one business course is invited to attend the meeting and be a member of Phi Beta Lambda. Talent Show The Student Government Association with the help and guidance of Dr. Robert Mayer is sponsoring a giant talent show. Our college is really blessed with good talent of all kinds, and we want to show it off. Faculty, staff, and students will work together to present what promises to be one of the year’s highlights. Auditions were held in the Teaching Auditorium, Thursday, October 3 at one p.m. and Fri day, October 4 at one p.m. The gala talent show will be presented twice Friday, October 25 at ten a.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. Whatever your talent, please come and audition. We promise you a really good time. Six Netmen Returning The following are returning players for WCC Tennis Team: David Bumgarner, Don Storey, Steve Woodie, Jim May, Frank Shuford, Skip Province. New students joining the team are Wayne Adams, Gary Pennel, Steve Shaw, Greg Bare, Barney Graham, Terry Bjorling. He is now performing skillfully with the College Symphony. Jerry Bangle, music instructor, says that other in strumentalists are needed and the following instruments are available: 3 violins, 1 viola, 2 cello, and 2 string bases. Arrangements may be made with Mr. Bangle for free lessons.
