PAGE THREE — THE COUGAR CRY, MAY 28, 1984 Student Profile Denise Burks Denise Burks is the daughter of Tommy and Linda Burks. They reside in North Wilkesboro. Denise is a 1982 graduate of Wilkes Central Senior High School. Denise is majoring in the college transfer program, and upon graduation this year she will be transferring to N.C. State University. While at N.C. State, she plans to major in computer science. While at Wilkes Community College, Denise has been extremely active in Student Government and civic activities. She has worked with the intramural program and with the Muscular Dystrophy campaign on campus. Denise has been on the Dean’s List and was selected for Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges while attending Wilkes Community College. Denise’s hobbies include traveling, cross- stitch, socializing, music listening Dart The Diabetic Americans Ranger Team (DART) was formed in order to help diabetics learn more about their disease and themselves, so to Uve longer and healthier lives. Anyone, despite their age, sex, religion, race, or color may join this Association as long as they are in sympathy with the purpose stated above. The response in the short time since our founding, March 17 of this year, has been excellent concerning the publics interest and approval of us. Denise is engaged to Kevin Mitchell who is currently a student at N.C. State University. They plan to marry in August of this year. If you don’t know Denise yet, stop her in the hall and say hello. You had better hurry though she is one of our outstanding graduates. Remi Wellborn Todd Thornburg Todd Thornburg is the son of Jack and Juanita Thornburg. Todd resides in the Roaring River Community with his parents. He is a 1982 graduate of East Wilkes High School. While in high school, Todd was active in sports, civic activities and student activities. Todd will be graduating this spring with an Associate of Arts degree. He plans to transfer to Appalachian State University where he will major in Psychology with a minor in business management. While a student at need many more members, our membership has been on a steady increase. As of the 15th of May, 1984, we consist of 17 members, 8 of which make-up the Board of Directors. We hope to number at least 50 by the end of this summer, and at least 100 by the end of this year. Todd especially enjoys analyzing people as he talks to them to gain practice in his pursuit to become a psychologist. If you don’t know Todd yet, you had better hurry. If all things fall in place, he will exchange with Desarlvo Rowell-Ozim of the Downhill School in Bath, England. Bill will instruct at Downhill School and Mr. Rowell- Ozim will instruct here at WCC.
