PAGE FOUR — THE COUGAR C/?K. nFfFMRKR 12. IQX4 Thoughts For Christmas My fondest memories of Christmas as a child are: the love I felt, the excitement of Christmas Eve, and the wonderful smells throughout the house. My house was always filled with love but around Christmas I seemed more aware of it and sensitive to it. The family was around more an seemed to grow closer during the holidays. Also, we all seemed to be really sharing things with each other. Another fond memory is the excitement of Christmas Eve. The family would gather and swap gifts. I remember thinking if they stayed too long Santa may pass up our house. It was the only night I was anxious to get to bed. There is no other feeling that compares with the excitement a child feels Christmas Eve. Finally, the smells of Christmas have never been as sharp as they were when I was a child. The house always smells of fresh baked goods, the clean scent of evergreen, and the sweet aroma of scented candles burning. I try every year to recapture these smells during the holidays. As you can see, my memories of Christmas are ones which can be awakened each year. Ail it takes is a lot of love, watching children Christmas Eve, and filling my home with pleasant aromas. It isn’t much but it sure produces a lot of fond memories of Christmas past when I was a child. Gail Pruitt New Center Wilkes Community College opened the North Wilkesboro Center of the College. What Best Christmas Gift Would You Like To Receive? I think the best Christmas gift would be a romantic, all-expense paid trip for two to the Bahamas. The perfect way to spend a holiday is lazing around on the beach with that someone special and drinking a nice cold drink. I would love to spend the days swimming or scuba-diving, and the nights dancing at nightclubs. The best part of a Christmas vacation in the Bahamas is getting a summer tan in the middle of December!!! Lynette Millsaps “All I wanted for Christmas was a little radio for music.
