Message From
Vice President
of Administrative
Services
Have you ever tried stretching a
rubber band to the maximum?
Sometimes we are surprised at the
possibilities of distance, strength,
etc. It is the same with dollars.
There are many objectives of the
Administrative Services Area such
as taking care of the accounting,
the maintenance, the housekeep
ing, the grounds, bookstore and
vehicles. Another one which relates
to all of the above is stretching the
dollar; actually we are happier if
we can make two out of each one!
Some call it management, fmancial
maneuverability, stewardship and
somejust being“stingy.” Whatever
you call it, it means making the
most of each budget dollar. 1 believe
we do that at Wilkes Community
College.

A ssociation
The 1986 Alumni Reception was held on Saturday, May 10, at the
J A WCC. It was an enjoyable evening with alumni and staff renewing old
friendships. Following the reception the highlight of the evening was
“Fiddler on the Roof’. This was a joint production by the College
Theatre Department and the College’s Symphony.
At the reception the newly elected alumni officers were introduced and
door prizes were awarded.

From The
President
On May 29, 1986, it will be my
privilege to present diplomas to
over 200 graduates in the 20th
graduating class of Wilkes Com
munity College. Observing you dili
gently, and even frantically, work
ing to complete the last quarter of
study at WCC, certainly, you sense
the significance of your accomplish
ments. But overshadowing this com
pletion is the exciting new begin
ning facing you.
If you plan on transferring to a
4-year senior institution, you face
an exciting and challenging time in
your life. You will complete the
molding of your plan for the future
which was begun here at WCC. If
upon graduation you are entering
the world of work, you will now
live the subjects you have studied
and the concepts you have strived
to grasp. The knowledge and skills
you have obtained will be a part of
your daily routine. Whether you
leave here for work or study, we
trust WCC has prepared you ef
fectively and that you will be suc
cessful.
Looking over the list of our
alumni who are now planning to
attend our second alumni banquet
on May 11, and reading of their
vocational, educational, and com
munity successes, I am confident
that you will too find happiness
and success. It brings all of us at
WCC great pride to know that we
have played a part in preparing
you for this new beginning.
Congratulations graduates, and
good luck!
