What Was the Best Piece of Advice
You Got from Your Mom?
All our lives it seems that
mother dear always has some
thing to say on just about every
subject. She is such an omnis
cient figure all our lives for she is
our teacher, our mentor, and our
best friend since she is always
there when we need her. Mom
always has a viewpoint on how
things should be done, for in
stance: she voices her opinion on
whether or not we attend college
and which college will best suit
our needs. Mora will also have
some influence on the type of
friends we choose to xpend our
time w ith. Fortunately, most of
the advice Mora gives is right on
target. I interviewed several stu
dents and asked thera.. ."What
was the best piece of advice you
got trora TOur mother?"
Kevin Caloway claims that
the piece of advice his mother
gave him was to "trust in God."
Carter Merritt says "set the
world on fire!"
Jan Long remembers her
Mora stating, "You are no better
than anyone and no one's any
better than you."
Holly Grimwood laughs at her
Mom's advice that affirms "Never
argue with a fool in public because the
onlookers don't know who t)te real fool
is."
Alida Cardo believes her Mom who
says "Always be true to yourself and
follow your dreams."
Nathan Ward's Mom gave similar
advice to always "Reach for your
dreams."
Suzanne Curtis has a perfectionist
Mom that states "Ifyou're not gonna
do it right, don't do it at all."
Sandy Sheets' advice was "Don't
trust people who talk to you about
others behind their backs."
Bud Rhodes says "Mom's best
advice was for me to go to church. /
still go."
Alan Richey got the advice, "Don't
"fritter" away your life playing golf."
As you can see, most people do as
tlieir mother tells them.

Top Ten of the Non-lunch Lunches
This question was presented to about twenty-five students and WCC
faculty: "What do you do on lunch besides eat?" The answers varied
outrageously, but here goes anyway. At the top of the list is to study for the
next class and, ironically, second is to figure out how to get out of the test
for the next class. The rest of the list goes as follows: 3 . exercise; 4 . pay
bills; 5. shop; 6. goof off; 7. stare into outer space and communicate with
my brother on Mars; 8. sleep; 9. plan for the next day, 10. honey-fuggle.
