RECIPE OF THE MONTH
12 in. Monster Cookie

1/2 cup (I stick) unsalted butter
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup (packed) light brown sugar .
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups (12 ounce pack) -
Semisweet Chocolate Chips
Step # 1: Cream the butter and shortening
together until well blended and soft. Beat the
sugars in turn. Add eggs one at a time; then
beat in the vanilla.
Step # 2: sift flour, powder, and baking soda,
and salt. Add it all to Step # 2. Blend well.
Add the chocolate chips, but save 1/2 cup.
Wrap the dough, chill for 3 hrs.
Step # 3: Place in a round pan. Add remain
ing choc, chips on top. Preheat oven to 350
F; with oven rack in center. Bake for about
45 minutes.
Makes a 12 inch monster cookie.
