Page 4 Welcome to the New WCC Employees By Sandy Sheets Wilkes Community College employed thir teen new employees during the month of August. Marsha Alexander has been employed at WCC as a counselor in the Student Support Services OfTice. Ms. Alexander received her M.A. degree from Appalachian State Marsha Alexander University in Rehab. Psychology. She has most recently been self-employed in coun seling, psychotherapy, psychological and vocational evaluations for Disability Determination Services and Vocational Rehabilitation Services. She also has past experience as a part-time insUuctor in psy chology and sociology courses, a coun selor/psychologist for the Agape-Onoma Psychological Center and a counselor/ teacher for the Department of Corrections through the WCC HRD program. Ms. Alexander lives on Old Highway 18 South in Wilkesboro. Elizabeth Carroll has been employed as an English instructor. She moved to Wilkes from Waterbury, Vermont. She received her Master of Arts Degree in English from the University of Vermont in spring 1997, and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Appalachian State University. She received a 1996-97 Graduate Teaching Fellowship at the University of Vermont and a 1996 nomi nation for the Tupper Award, which is pre sented to an outstanding graduate student in English. Aaron Cook of Valdese, NC is the new lead instructor of Biology at Wilkes. Cook received his Master of Arts degree in Biology m Aaron Cook from Appalachian State University. He comes to Wilkes from Mayland Community College in Sprucc Pine, NC where he was serving as a Biology instructor. He has also taught as a Biology instructor at Western Piedmont Community College and worked as a teaching assistant at Appalachian State University. Aaron and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Kaitlin, who is seven, and Matthew, who is two. A1 deLachica is the new Broadcasting and Production Technology instructor. He comes to Wilkes form the position of Affiliate Services Director for Capitol Networks where he was responsible for marketing nationwide sports and news programs. He has served as a Media Technician II for Fayetteville State University; a Broadcast/Technical Director for Eye of the Artist Productions; Director of Programs for Rio Bravo Cultural Arts Foundation and a Broadcast journalism Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin. He received both his Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Joumalism from the University of A1 deLachica Texas at Austin. Al and his wife, Marianna, have a two-year- old daughter, Marial. Regina DeLisse comes to Wilkes as the new Coordinator/InsUnctor of Computer Science and Business for WCC's Ashe and Alleghany campuses. She has earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies and is currently working toward her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organizational Leadership from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. She received both a Master of Arts in Higher Education and a Bachelor of Technology degree from Appalachian State University. She also graduated with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Administration from Coastal Carolina Community College. Before being employed at WCC full-time, Ms. DeLisse worked as an adjunct busi ness/computer instructor for WCC and Caldwell Community College. She lives in Boone with her two sons, Eric and Steven Midkiflf. (Picture Unavailable.) Martha Fletcher of Piney Creek, NC, has been employed as an English instructor. Ms. Fletcher received both her Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees in English from Appalachian State University. Prior to this fall, she has worked as an adjunct instructor for WCC, as well as a instructor and Writing Consultant for the University Writing Center at Appalachian State University.
