The two- time defending champions began the season traveling to Caldwell Community College where they lost a hard fought 3-2. Their first home match against Forsyth Tech. was another long battle with the Cougars falling behind by two games before they pulled together to win the remaining three games to complete the match. The third game of the season brought Catawba Valley to Cougar country. The Cougars made easy prey of their opponent, winning 3-0. The 1997 Cougar Volleyball team is com posed of: (S) Davina Williams, the only returning player, (S) Allison Wayne, (F) Christy Riddle, (F) Lora Spicer, (F) Rebecca Adams, (S) Josh White, (S) Chad Hayes, (S) Chad Groce, (S) Wayne Church, (S) Neil Townsend, and (F) Bradley Hayes. Volleyball team members, Davina Williams and Bradley Hayes, anxiously anticipate the next play of the Forsyth Technical Community College Team at the first home game of the season.
