Volume 28 Issue 3 COUGAR CRY (Wilkes Community College) Holiday Memories & More Several Freshmen students have been asked questions about the holiday season, past and present, while attending a session of the Student Success Class (ACA 111). Listed below are their responses. What do you plan to do over the holiday break? “Get in a little more sleep and spend time with my family and friends and my fmace. I also plan to explore nature a little more.” Michelle Furches “Catch up on some needed sleep. Spend time with family. Maybe go snowskiing.” Melissa Lewis “Spend lots of time with my family and my boyfriend and his family.” Alicia Blevins “I plan to go to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Cherokee and explore my heritage.” Amanda Bartlett “Absolutely nothing that has anything to do with school.” Angie Little “Work more; spend time with friends that will be home from out-of-town colleges; spend time with family.” Melissa Gregory “Catch some good workouts and chill out with my new family. For New Year’s Eve 1 am going to New York to watch the ball drop.” Scott Howell continued on page 2 December 11. 1997 Mr. & Ms. W.C.C. Elected Bradley Settle and Kristen Harpe were recently elected as Mr. and Ms. W.C.C. for the 1997-98 school year. The elections were held on November 17 and 18 in the student commons. Each active club on campus had the opportunity to nominate one candidate for each position. The qualifications required of all nominees were: ♦Must be a sophomore. ♦Must be a full time student. ♦Must have a minimum of 3.0 G.P.A. ♦Must be an active member of the organization by which he/she is nominated. The new Mr. W.C.C. definitely iulfills all of the criteria listed above. During his time as a student at W.C.C. , he has Left to right. Kristen Harpe, Ms. W.C.C. and Bradley Settle, Mr. W.C.C. been involved with numerous activities. This fall he served as a scorekeeper for the volleyball team and is a member of the basketball team. Bradley has been a member of S.G.A. for two years and is currently serving as chairperson of the Community Service Committee. He is a volunteer fireman with Pleasant Hill Fire Department and works part-time at Little Caesar’s in Elkin. Bradley will graduate in May with an A.A.S. degree in Information Systems.
