ilkes Community College announces the fif
teen freshmen with top academic standings
who have been named as marshals for the
1998 commencement exercise to take place on Thursday,
May 14. The graduation ceremony will begin at 5:00 p.m.
at the John A. Walker Community Center located on the
campus of the college. The following students were se
lected for this honor.
James Clark Blackburn, a student in the
Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology
program, is a 1997 graduate of West Wilkes
High School. He is the son of Ford and Ann
Blackburn of North Wilkesboro.
Shannon Denise Brown, of North Wilkes
boro, is the daughter of J. C. and Sharon
Brown. She is a 1997 graduate of North
Wilkes High School and is a student in the As
sociate in Arts Program.
Kelly Ann Glass is a 1997 graduate of North
Wilkes High School and is a student in the In-
’ formation Systems Technology program. She
i is the daughter of Dwight and Narvena Glass
of North Wilkesboro.
Julie Waynette Kerley, of Taylorsville, is the
daughter of Wayne and Linda Kerley. She is a
student in the Early Childhood Associate pro
gram. Julie is a 1997 graduate of Alexander
Central High School.
Jason Monroe Marlow is a 1997 graduate of
Wilkes Central High School and is a student in
the Building Construction program. He is the
son of Alfred and Shelia Marlow. Jason lives
in Moravian Falls.
Guy Charles Miller is the son of Danny and
Bobbye Miller of Millers Creek. He is a 1997
graduate of West Wilkes High School and is a
student in the Associate in Arts program.
Jamie Chantea Millsaps, a 1997 Alexander
j Central High School graduate, is a student in
[the Office Systems Technology program. She
is the daughter of Robert and Janet Millsaps of
I Taylorsville.
Keith Allen Prevette, a student in the Heavy
Equipment and Transport Technology program,
is a 1997 graduate of East Wilkes High School.
Keith is the son of Steve and Jenny Prevette of
Wilkesboro.
Virginia Caroline Rogers has been designated
as Chief Marshal. She is a 1996 graduate of
Wilkes Central High School and is a student in
the Associate in Arts program. She is the
daughter of Eric and Jill Rogers of North
Wilkesboro.
I Amanda Dawn Shumate, of Millers Creek, is
the daughter of Ricky Shumate and Keithand
Debbie Wayne. She is a 1996 graduate of West
Wilkes High School and is a student in the Hu-
I man Services Technology program.
Phillip Edward Skrzysinski lives with his wife,
Sharon, in West Jefferson. He is the son of Fran
cis A. Skrzysinski of Bay City, Michigan and
Dianne Sokria of Fresno, California. Phillip is a
1981 GED graduate and is in the Industrial
Maintenance program.
Teresa Lynn Stevens, of West Jefferson, is the
daughter of Jimmy Griffin of Wilkesboro and
Sue Griffin of Fleetwood. She is a 1975 gradu
ate of Beaver Creek High School and is a stu
dent in the Office Systems Technology program.
Katie Turnbull, a 1996 GED graduate, is a stu-
1 dent in the Associate Degree Nursing program.
She lives in Deep Gap with her husband Jason.
Katie is the daughter of David and Linda Russ
of Wilmington.
Matthew Scott Wayne, a student in the Indus
trial Maintenance Technology program, is a
1997 graduate of West Wilkes High School. He
is the son of Russell and Ruby Wayne of
Wilkesboro.
Jason Ray Welborn is a 1997 graduate of East
Wilkes High School. He is the son of Johnny
and Cindy Welborn of Ronda. Jason is a student
in the Heavy Equipment and Transport Tech
nology program.
