By Twiggy Morgan This year 1 not only had the pleasure to like cover the re verse beauty pageant for the newspaper, but I was like the winner too. After a long and grueling process to get ready for the pageant, which is really no different than my normal morning routine, 1 came out to my most favorite song in like the whole world, “Genie in a Bottle.” 1 had to really strut my stuff for the judges because the competition was quite fierce. I was wearing my pretty blue mini-skirt. (1 had shorter but S.J. said that would not be very lady like) None of the other contestants looked as good as 1 did. Most of them looked like they just came in from the street, a hinting of their true profession. And one of the la dies was even scantly clad in a bikini. (1 guess she didn’t know that it’s wrong to wear a two piece after Labor Day.) After a brutal talent competition, it was down to some girl that looked like an Annie wannabe, the unmentionable bikini lady, and the fairest of all, ME. Luckily, they made the question round easy, not like a Dr. Ingledue Biology test. Mr. and Ms. WCC for the 1999-00 school year. The elections I were held on Novem ber 9 and 10 in the I Student Center Lobby. Each active club and sports team on campus had the opportu nity to nominate one candidate for each position. The qualifi cations required of nominees were: * Must be a sophomore. * Must be a full time student. * Must have a minimum of 3.0 G.P.A. * Must be an active member of the organization by which (Continued on page 2) Phi Theta Kappa Holds Induction Ceremony By: Grade Woods Phi Theta Kappa is the ultimate intellectual success of the two- year college experience. Through hard work, determination, and su perior study skills, the PTK members have placed themselves in the top 10% of the com-1 munity college students in the nation. The induction ceremony for the proud new PTK inductees was held Thursday November 18, 1999. Dr. Staten, a faculty advisor for PTK, gave an eloquent introductory speech to the ceremony. PTK President Laura Gener ous, Vice-President Elsie Cowles, Secretary Jada Par sons, PR Secretary Joe Griffith, and Treasurer Devin Staley, each took turns ex plaining the symbolic mean ings of the PTK icons.
