Cougar Cry Paae li SQd Update By: Bobbie A. Kilby Once again it is update time. Are you ready for this? Ping-Pong sign-ups are complete and the tournament is currently in process. Best of luck to the participants. I seem to recall someone saying it was all downhill. The Mountain Biking Trip was held during Fall Break on October 11*^. Landon Jordan, Luke McCloud, Sharon Johnson, Crystal Combs, and Erica Cardwell, led by Scott Johnson and Larry Caudill found out differently, but made the 13 mile journey uphill and downhill. John P. Hopkins wowed and amazed us on Thursday, October 14*. He per formed lots of card tricks and a few other pranks. Just ask Jamie McQuaig, exactly how did that card get into your pack of gum? During Community Service Week, the SGA took donations for Ebenezer Gardens Christian Children’s Home. A special thanks goes out to PTK for collecting the most items to send to the Home. As gratitude for their effort, they were given $50. The clubs participat ing on Campus Clean-up Day did an excellent job. They were rewarded with a hot dog lunch. Thank you: PBL, Human Services, Stu dent Ambassadors. SGA, PTK, V.O.LC.E., Rotaract, and Dental Assisting. Our Adopt-a-Highway had to be postponed due to rain. The new date is November 19*. Genie in a bottle? You got it! Sam Sink, Matt Collins, Josh Barker, Richard Brown, Jon Welbom, Tony Norris, and Tommy Hamilton dressed their best and strutted their stuff as they competed for the crown of “Queen of WCC 1999” in our 3'^'* Annual Reverse Beauty Pageant. Judging was tough, but Alan Richey, Pete Mann, Melissa Eller and Lynda Black made their decision out of the three finalists, which included Jon Welbom, Matt Collins, and Josh Barker. Congratulations to Josh Barker, our first runner-up. Outstanding applause and congratulations goes to Matt Collins, or shall I say Twiggy, our newly crowned Queen of WCC. Have a wonderful reign as Queen! Every one attending the Reverse Beauty Pageant was given a Halloween treat bag. Our first annual Family Festival was a complete success! On October 28*, many WCC clubs prepared the Student Services building for a cavalcade of faculty/staff, stu- I dents and their families. To scare the “brave,” there was a haunted ' house. C.E., AITP, Rotaract, Dental Assisting, and Medical Assisting. Great job guys! On Thursday, November 4*, the student body witnessed Mike Kilby, our SGA President, get arrested for drunk driving. Following the arrest was a Mock Trial where Assistant District Attorney Stacey Ad ams prosecuted Mike. However, ready for his defense was attorney Ty Ferrell. Mr. Ferrell may have tried really hard to get the charges dropped, but the Honorable Judge Mitch McLean would hear nothing of it. Mike was convicted and given what he thought was a severe punishment, even though it was the most lenient. After the trial. Judge McLean went through a listing of the punishments for drunk driving offenses. I hope everyone was paying particular attention to the penalties. Alcohol Awareness Week also included B.Y.O.B.
