2 'A cups flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 Vi teaspoons ginger
Vi teaspoons ground cloves
Va teaspoons salt
Vi cup margarine
'A cup packed dark brown sugar
1/3 cup dark com syrup
1 large egg
In a large bowl, sift together flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves,
and salt.
Blend together margarine and brown sugar until smooth.
Add com symp and egg; beat well. Add dry ingredients,
about 1/3 at a time, mixing until smooth after each addition.
Chill dough one hour.
Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to '/> inch thickness.
Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, press out cookie shapes
or use knife to cut around a pattern. Place hearts on a cookie
sheet. Decorate as desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20
minutes until golden. Place on wire rack to cool. Store in
