Cougar Cry Page 6 WCC Cafe Survey Report In the Cougar Cry newspaper survey, we surveyed over 150 WCC staff members and students to find out what the WCC Cafe can do to serve people better. In our survey 42% were staff members and 58% were students; 67% eat at the cafe at least once a week and 33% do not. Out of the people that do eat at the cafe at least once a ’ week 26% eat there everyday, 33% eat three times a week, 21% eat two times a week and 18% eat once a week in the cafe. ’ Of those that eat at least once a week, 61% said the service was very good, 26% said the service was good, 12% said the service was average, 1% said the service was fair and 0% said the service was poor. When asked what they thought about the prices in the cafe, 25% said the prices in the cafe were very good, 34% said the prices in the cafe were gbod, 28% said the prices in the cafe were average, 9% said the prices in the cafe were fair and 4% said the prices ip the cafe were poor. When asked if quality of the food served in the cafe was good, 18% said the quality of the food served was very good, 32% said the quality of the food served was good, 28% said the quality of the food served was average, 15% said the quality of the food served was fair and 7% said the quality of the food served was poor. Of those who do not eat at the cafe at least once a week, 95% said that they know where the cafe is located and 5% did not know where the cafe is located. Also, 84% said that the cafe was in an easy to access part of the campus and 16% said it was not. The thing that came up most often in the “comments or suggestions” of the survey was that about half of the people want to have a salad bar. Other things that came up often include: workers handling money should not handle food, stay open longer, healthier food, french fries, lower prices, soup/ potato bar, quicker service, need a microwave, cappuccino machine, using fresh vegetables instead of canned, use less grease and don’t use the butter/vegetable oil mix to cook on the grill. Almost all the people surveyed said that the breakfast was very good, but the lunch was less desirable. One person even wrote “This is a college campus not a senior care facility." Many people commented on how “friendly” the staff is, so keep up the good work. Down falls of this survey include; 1. Letting the SGA and cafe staff make changes to the survey, making the opinions about those who do not eat in the cafe at least once a week seem not needed. In fact, most of those people have eaten in the cafe before and should have a say in the survey. 2. Not having the people that do not eat at the cafe not be able fill out what they think of the service and quality of the cafe, made the cafe look better than true popular belief. Those that do not eat there anymore were then left out of the stats. 3. Format of the survey was hard to understand and jumped around too much, which discouraged some people from filling in the survey completely. 4. Not asking if the people liked the breakfast or lunch better because they are made by two differ ent people. Extra note; Since the writing of this paper, there is something I would like to add. The cafe has just got a new rating by the government. The new score is an A and out of a 102 point scale they got an amazing 101.5%, so tell your cafe worker that you love the work they are doing. *1 The stats about the amount weekly visited have a 2% error ratio due to incomplete answering.
