Currently PBL is participating in several community service projects. Two of these are the
March of Dimes “Toys for Tots” and a “gift wrap, bows, etc.” drive for Ebenezer Christian
Children's Home. Anyone wishing to make a donation to either of these projects can find boxes
under the PBL bulletin board located in Thompson Hall.
On October 24th and 25th, North Carolina Phi Beta Lambda held its 29th annual Fall
Leadership Development Conference at the Broyhill Convention Center in Boone, NC. Four
members from WCC’s Sigma lota chapter and faculty advisor Cindy Killian attended this two day
event. Members attending were: Danny Mullins-President, Mauldean Williams-Treasurer,
Michelle White-Historian, and Melissa Hill-Reporter/Western Region Vice President.
This year’s Phi Beta Lambda theme is, “PBL: Celebrating 50 Years of Leadership!”
Highlights of the conference were Professional Division speakers, numerous leadership &
personal improvement workshops, a non-trivia contest, regional meetings, a dance, and an
awards presentation at which WCC’s PBL was presented three awards:
3rd Place-State Membership Recruitment
1st Place-Western Region Membership Recruitment
Gold Star Recipient
Congratulations to all PBL members for their help in achieving these goals!
