4 PBL- SIMGA IOTA CHAPTER NEWS By Michelle White As of September 29, 2004; We had our first meeting on September 14"', and the turnout was good for our first meeting. One activity that we will be involved is Fall Festival on October 21 Our club officers are the following: Michelle White is president; April Huffman is vice-president; Jeff Billings is treasurer; and Brad Johnston is the reporter. If you are interested in more information on the club you can email our president at whitebmr^^wilkescc. mailcruiser.com. ib j Human Services Club News _r By Elizabeth Lovem WCC’s Human Services Club has hit the ground run ning this fall. Members are excited about all the up coming events and opportunities. Our officers for the 2004-2005 school year are as fol lows: Sherry Mabry—President Jennifer Joines—Vice President Melissa Idol—Secretary Jamie Heater—Treasurer SGA Representative—Phil Marshall The Human Services Club was well represented in the Fall Festival. We worked the bingo room, operated the bowling activities for the children and did tattoos. The Human Services Club also had a large presence on the Greenway for the Town of North Wilkesboro’s Trail of Treats. We led all the activities, games, and storytelling that everyone enjoyed. What a fantastic night this was for everyone involved. Last year, our club was at the inaugural Trail of Treats. This was our second year of participating, and we hope to remain a permanent fixture for years to come. Have you noticed the large cans located around cam pus? The WCC’s Human Service Club is sponsoring a diaper drive. Our House assists the Department of Social Services in Wilkes with diapers for families in need, and we wanted to help out. If you would like to help out as well, please put a bag of diapers in one of the available cans. A Human Service Club representa tive will pick them up and get them delivered to Our House. The need is great est for sizes four, five, and six. Please join us in helping the families in need in Wilkes County. The diaper drive will con tinue until November 24"'. Several club members participated in Make a Differ ence Day here in Wilkes. This day is set aside for vol unteers to make a difference in another person’s life through helping to improve the surroundings of the people living here in Wilkes County. If you have never been involved with this, you should consider participating next year. Watch your local paper next fall to get the date. Continued on page 5
