9 The Preacher’s Wife By Kelia S. Adams If Mrs. Sharilyn Granade was not enlightening minds by means of her expertise in mathematics, she would be the star of the movie, The Preacher’s Wife. If she had not pursued the education field, she would have embarked on the journey of life as an actress. Mrs. Granade is a new instructor at WCC, and she began teaching in the fall of 2003. Before instructing at Wilkes Community College, she taught at East Wilkes High School. Cur rently, she teaches Math 60, Math 70, Math 161, and Math 172 (high school class) at WCC. In regards to her profession, she enjoys the coaching and encouraging part, and she does not enjoy the administrative paper work. In addition, I was a student in her Math 161 class, College Algebra. In Mrs. Granade’s College Algebra class I learned about piece wise functions, vertical line tests, center of circles, linear functions, maximums, do mains, ranges, discriminates, no solutions, word prob lems, and other mathematical concepts. Sharilyn Granade was bom in Montezuma, Georgia on an autumn day. She received her undergraduate degree in Math Education from the University of Georgia in 1988. Then she received her graduate degree, in Math, from the University of Georgia in 1992. Mrs. Granade is now pursuing her Doctorate degree in Math Educa tion. Along with playing the role of an instructor at WCC, she plays the roles of nurturing mother, loving wife, and friendly friend, to name a few. Mrs. Granade’s hus band’s name is Nelson Granade, and he is the pastor of First Baptist Church. They have two children, Emily, 10, and James Douglas, 12. The Granade Family also has two terrier dogs. Mrs. Granade’s greatest accom plishment is managing a family, and her most prized possession is family photos. In her spare time she en joys swimming, studying, and cooking.
