chanical contractor; and Keller Electric Company, Inc. is the electrical contractor.
“The Next Step” Campaign is a fundraising and development effort designed to help finance the college’s educa
tional priorities, as detailed in the master facilities plan. “The Next Step” campaign is integral to Wilkes Community
College in realizing its vision for the future and supporting its students’ academic endeavors and the economic de
velopment of the region. Strategically, this campaign is about providing access to higher education and a ready
workforce for area employers. Tactically, the campaign’s objectives are about new learning facilities, scholarships,
and equipment. It is all about joining together to create a legacy of progress for Wilkes, Ashe, and Alleghany coun
ties that capitalizes on one of our strongest assets, Wilkes Community College. Phase One of “The Next Step” cam
paign includes fundraising to provide the necessary funds to purchase equipment for Phase One facilities, including
the science and technology building, with 85% having been raised to date of the $8.4 million goal. Public solicitation
continues on the college’s “The Next Step” campaign. Naming opportunities in the new building and at Wilkes
Community College are available for a variety of buildings, classrooms, laboratories, conference rooms, and other
areas, including gardens and recreational facilities.
